Backyard Burn Season is Back

As of October 11th at 10:00 a.m., backyard burn season is officially open within Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) jurisdiction.
Residents may now resume backyard burning of natural vegetation, but are reminded to follow all local and state regulations to ensure community safety.
Before You Burn
- Confirm it’s an approved burn day before lighting any fire — conditions can change quickly.
- Only burn clean, dry, natural vegetation. Burning trash, plastics, or treated wood is prohibited.
- Keep water and tools nearby, and never leave your fire unattended.
- Maintain safe distances from structures, vehicles, and property lines.
- Fires must be completely extinguished before leaving the area.

For current regulations or questions about safe burning practices, please check with the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) for official guidance.

Important Reminders
- Burning may be suspended without notice if fire danger increases or weather conditions change.
- Always check air quality conditions through Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) before burning.
- Violations of burn rules can result in fines or citations.
