Fire & EMS Services
Dexter Rural Fire Protection District is committed to delivering timely, professional emergency services to our community. Our staff of career firefighters, resident volunteers, and dedicated reserves respond to a wide range of incidents in Dexter and the surrounding areas.
Fire Suppression
We respond to all types of fires, including:
- Residential and commercial structure fires
- Vehicle fires
- Wildland and brush fires
- Chimney and utility-related fires
Our team is trained in aggressive fire attack, ventilation, salvage and overhaul, and search and rescue operations.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Dexter Fire provides Intermediate Life Support (ILS) level EMS care, responding to:
- Medical emergencies
- Traumatic injuries
- Cardiac and respiratory events
- Motor vehicle crashes
Our crews are trained to stabilize patients and prepare them for transport by ambulance or air as needed. All personnel participate in ongoing EMS training and certification.
Vehicle Rescue & Extrication
We are equipped and trained to respond to motor vehicle accidents requiring:
- Patient access and extrication
- Vehicle stabilization
- Hazard mitigation (e.g. leaking fuel, battery disconnects)
Wildland Fire Response
Dexter Fire deploys a type 6 brush engine and trained wildland personnel to combat fires in remote and rural areas. We also assist neighboring agencies with wildland mobilization through mutual aid and state task forces.
Mutual Aid & Regional Support
Dexter Fire works closely with neighboring departments to ensure fast, effective service across the region. Through established mutual aid agreements, we provide and receive support during large-scale incidents or times of high call volume.

- Oakridge Fire & EMS
These partnerships strengthen our response capabilities and allow us to share resources, training opportunities, and personnel when needed.
